Yesterday the Wyknenko's arrived in Germany! I went for a walk around Landshut and just as I arrived back at the Klemm's, they drove on in. We went for a walk around Landshut after a great lunch that Mirjam made. Landshut is known for having the tallest brick steeple in the world at 400 feet. It really towers over you when you walk up to it. We also walked up to a small castle overlooking the town. On the walk back it rained on us pretty good but nothing anyone who has lived in Seattle for awhile can't handle.
Today we set out to see Neuschwanstein Castle. This is the castle that looks like it exists in a fairy tale and was built by crazy King Ludwig II. The Klemm's let us borrow their VW van to make the journey, which was very kind of them, they are great people. The drive down through Bavaria was great with rolling hills, farms, and Bavarian houses all along the road. It was great to be traveling with friends for a change instead of by myself. Although I only had to wait for me when travelling by myself. The castle was great and really looks like it belongs in a fairy tale. It was built in the 19th century and so was never meant to keep out intruders and was just to make the crazy king happy.
I added some more photos to the munich and landshut album so just click below for more. If you haven't figured it out yet, after you click on the album picture, you can click to start a slideshow of the images as well. I have added captions to some of the images so enjoy.

What a neat castle! It reminds me of Shrek, with that ridiculous "welcome" song. Especially the crazy king who just wanted to build it for fun. I'm glad you have met up with friends now. Looks like fun. :)
Molly
Great castle pictures! I'm a bit cranky this evening, because everybody got to go see Karin row today in Seattle and I had to stay home and go to class. Eric is also in Seattle and I belive that Frank, Kristi, Dave, Chelle and the girls all went to his water polo match this evening. Richard, Anna and Molly may be there, too. I know they are having a marvelous time without me...just like you! :)
Keep on having fun. How are you boys fitting into the attic? Have fun with Scott and Neil in Venice! (Will Darren be with you?)
Love,
MOM
